Computed Tomography

On the following page information about research projects of the Institute of Medical Engineering  in the field of computed tomography are described. To date we are mainly interested in medical image artifact reduction.  However, recently, interesting technical, anthropomorphic, forensic, and archeological as well as paleontological applications of computed tomography have been developed. These applications further strengthen the method as a generic diagnostic tool for non-destructive material testing and three-dimensional visualization beyond its medical use.

Projects

Computed tomography (CT) is a well established imaging modality. And, due to its ease of use, clear interpretation in terms of physical attenuation values, progress in detector technology, reconstruction mathematics, and reduction of radiation exposure, computed tomography will maintain and expand its established position in the field of radiology.
