SKAMPI (Sichtbare KAtheter im MPI zur schonenden Behandlung multimorbider Patienten)

Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI) allows to image the spatial distribution of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPION). Since MPI combines a high sensitivity with good spatial and temporal resolution it is a promising technique for cardiovascular interventions. Therefore, it is necessary to visualize the used instruments. One possibility is to coat them with suitable SPION varnish.

Within the project a suitable coatings for different medical instruments should be identified. The aim is to develop a coating that is safe to use and will not influence the mechanical characteristics of the instruments. Further, a suitable visualization will be developed with focus on the signal separation of instrument and a SPION filled vessel.
